15-year-old Javokhir Sindarov pulled off the biggest upset of the FIDE World Cup so far when he took down one of the dark horses to win the whole event, Alireza Firouzja, after a stylish win in the second 10-minute tiebreak game. Another Uzbek player, Jakhongir Vakhidov, beat world no. 13 Leinier Dominguez, while it was also the end of the road for the likes of Gukesh, Parham Maghsoodloo, Dmitry Jakovenko and fan favourite IMs Ravi Haria and Volodar Murzin.
