Banner: Rinarin | Main Writer: myuniquename | Host: SheyCroix Points to be available later on our club CHALLENGE WILL RUN FROM SEP 18 TO SEP 24, 2023 (UTC-4) (while in this club, dates to be extended afterwards) INTRODUCTION The Anime Watching Challenges Club (AWCc) welcomes you to the second edition of our Open House event at the 2023 MAL Bunkasai ~Our School Festival~. Within our booth, you'll find a series of challenges designed to introduce you to our club and an opportunity to dip your toes into what AWCc members do year-round—watching all kinds of anime! (Like, really, you will find the most obscure of things.) Completing this Open House challenge will earn you a Bunkasai participation ticket, the opportunity to use our badges and if you decide to join us in the AWCc, you can earn your first club points as well. (We use them to claim roles on our Discord server, measure our individual progress, and to engage in good-natured bragging.) Started in 2016, our club currently has over 490 active challenges, with more than 9,000 badges available for completing them! Our members engage in challenges that interest them, watching anime at their chosen pace. The club offers multiple new limited challenges every month, regularly releases new permanent challenges, and offers collaboration challenges with multiple other MAL clubs. We have something for every anime fan, new or old: Challenges for watching old anime? Check. Challenges for consuming a bunch of new seasonal content in a year? Hai! Challenges for watching all the best anime? Sure thing. And the worst? Of course! You've stopped by our booth because you love anime, but maybe there's something missing like an extra game you can play to challenge yourself. In our booth you can discover just what you're capable of—our booth will introduce you to that extra kick your anime watching is missing! Dive into our Bunkasai challenge to learn what the AWCc is all about. NOTE to our club members: Once MAL Bunkasai ends, this challenge will be imported to the club. You will be able to claim your points then.THE STORY SO FAR Upon entering the MAL Bunkasai virtual space, you see colorful posters from both famous and infamous series—a vintage Akira poster, the iconic motorcycle taking focus, adorns a wall opposite a flashy Ex-Arm advertisement, aping Hollywood action ensemble marketing. Figures of Rei from Evangelion and Rem from Re:Zero sit on a table marked with cheerfully colorful text reading, "CLUB INTRODUCTION!" You pass by and grab a flyer from the stack on the table then tuck it into your avatar's inventory. Club members and MAL users wander the space. Some appear as avatars mimicking anime protagonists; others as themselves cosplaying; and many as non-cats, spoodercats, beans, dragons, or shapeless things. Some of them are eagerly chatting together, others are checking out the scoreboard which dominates a whole wall, while a bunch are passing out or frantically reading leaflets explaining how to get started. Your eyes follow a little bean as they stroll across the room on comically thin legs before stopping to talk to a majestic dragon handing out pamphlets to visitors. The dragon gives you a fatherly (and toothy) grin then hands you one. It reads, "CHALLENGE BASICS". The dragon turns back to the little bean and they both greet someone whose avatar can only be described as a manifestation of anger. The three continue their conversation as you move along. A few visitors cluster around boards with numbers and letters, matching small anime postcards to empty spaces. Nearby, other avatars talk excitedly as they pour over a list of anime genres, sharing opinions on their favorites. A small circle discusses a list of the most lauded anime, debating which of them is truly the best. Passing a display of SD Gunpla and Dragon Ball chibis surrounded by avatars of all sorts, you reach the third table. A detective clad in blood-red clothing offers you a form entitled, "DIY-CHALLENGE". She motions towards a bank of terminals covered in anime decals and you sit down to absorb what you've learned.HOW-TO Our challenges are usually structured in a similar way: points - banner - general information/rules/difficulties - challenge list - badges. For this Open House, we will offer the challenge in sections. You will be allowed to do any part you like, but I suggest doing them in the order presented. To successfully complete a part, you must do all items in there. Besides the badges, we award points per completed difficulty as well. These points are received once your challenge has been successfully inspected (yes, you can fix any mistakes). Once you have enough, it will allow you to claim special badges as rewards. The points are also used for our members' ranking. Since the time limit while at Bunkasai is far too short, we won't inspect nor give points here as we normally would. After the event ends here, it will reopen in our club as a time limited event (it may last for a month or two). Once there, you will be allowed to recreate (or just paste) what you did here and continue with what you had left. Request the bunkasai role on the MyAnimeList discord. After following the #how-to-verify instructions, go to #bot-spam (under Miscellaneous), type /asar join and pick bunkasai. Any questions about this challenge, please use the event channel (#awcc-open-house) on discord or just mention us (@SheyCroix @myuniquename) on this thread.
