A couple finds their lives turned upside down when their daughter is cast with a controversial lead star.. The DA'S Office: Ep. 26 – ACOLYTE DISASTER! Could this be the end of Disney Star Wars? (2024) The first half of the film is more of a character study, where Annette, a deeply unhappy and lonely housewife, soon learns that her husband, Ben, is having an affair with Alicia, a famous actress. The second half of the film is more of a thriller where we start to pick up the tempo and the wheels start turning in Annette’s head. The film is a true slow burn: first cool and wintry, then hot and bubbly, then explosive in its final act. It is gripping, engrossing and tense throughout. It is anchored by a wonderful performance by Daisy Ridley. She is a real revelation. Her quiet moment of anger flares up. There’s an iconic scene where she smashes a mirror after pushing it into a mirror for a few moments, symbolizing their crumbling marriage. Shazad Latif is also good here. The film has some general aspects. The trailer is a bit misleading. It can sometimes drag on and get a little tiring. The ending may be cathartic and rewarding to some viewers, and neutral to others. Hiba Ahmed, as Matilda, the daughter, the film’s child performances are often not very good. She felt more like a prop than a character. And Matilda Lutz is really beautiful and charming and convincing as a movie star in the context of the movie, and that’s okay. Perhaps because Lutz is Italian, many of her lines sound awkward or stilled. If you like thrillers with strong acting, especially those involving female angst, sensuality and infidelity, this will be right up your alley.
