A grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
By ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making big changes in people’s lives – including his own. The cast of “Downsizing” share their biggest defining moments in Season 1 and reveal who the best Harrison Ford impersonator is.
Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and convinced him to take the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and intended to interview people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least pitch him to Ford first, thinking he would turn him down out of hand, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was involved, which sparked interest from other big-name actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t know what convinced him, but he was overjoyed. I watched the first two episodes and found them compelling.
I also respect the way it’s presented – he’s not doing something other therapists should be doing, and that’s pretty clear
Partly because I found it grounded in reality, about a therapist who needs therapy and wants to get to his patients in order to unexpectedly work through his own issues. He hasn’t gotten into the silly situations of other shows like Loot, but it’s still early in the series and I’ll keep watching.
The show isn’t for everyone
Still, I like the depth of the characters without them coming across as caricatures; these are people I’d like to get to know.
